Medicinal Properties:Fruit and root are widely used in Ayurveda for the preparation of many recipes. It is a Rasayana (Rejuvenating) herb according to Ayurvedic philosophy. In Ayurveda it is used for the treatment of respiratory and digestive irregularities. It is a part of Trikatu (Three Pungent herbs). Ayurveda Individually long pepper is used in correcting for digestive disturbances and minor respiratory ailments. Trikatu is an important constituent in many Ayurvedic formulations. Research studies suggest that intake of Trikatu enhances bioavailability of the substances administered along with them.
