Simple Ayurvedic Remedies of Common Diseases



  • Agnidagdha (Burns and Scalds)
    Signs and symptoms   Severity depends according to degree of burn. Severe cases should be hospitalized immediately.
    Simple treatment The treatment is for simple or superficial burns
    1. Apply freshly acquired juice of Ghrit kumari (Aloevera).
    2. Apply mixture of equal parts of Atasi tail (Linseed oil) and Honey.
    3. Apply mixture of equal parts of Coconut oil and Tila taila (Gingelly oil).
    Pathya Liquid and soft diet with little Ghrita and rest to the affected part.
    Apathya Food having Acidic taste, Dadhi (Curd) and chilies are harmful. Bath should be restricted.
  • Agnimandya (Dyspepsia)

    Agnimandya is a condition in which food is not properly digested due to the diminished power of Jatharagni (Digestive juices)
    Signs and symptoms   Indigestion, diminished appetite and loss of taste, salivation, sour eructation and heaviness in the abdomen are main signs and symptoms.
    Simple treatment Drugs and diet should be given which stimulates Agni and decreases Kapha dosha
    1. Sunthi (dried Ginger) powder – 2 Gms. twice daily with warm relieves it well.
    2. Ardraka (Ginger) -5 Gms. And salt or Guda (Jaggery).
    3. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) powder
      3 Gms. and salt or Guda (Jaggery), to be taken, twice daily before meals
    4. Nimbu svaras (Lemon juice)-7 to 14 ml. to be taken thrice daily after meals
    5. 1Gm. Powder of each of Pippali (Long pepper) and salt, to be taken along with Nimbu svaras (Lemon juice) twice daily with meals.
    Pathya Light diet, soup, Radish, Patola (fruits of Tricosanthes dioica), Karela (Bitter gourd), Dadima (Pomegranate), Lemon juice, Hingu (Asfoetida) should be added to food and warm water for drinking are to be consumed.
    Apathya Cold water, Guru ahara (heavy, fried and any food difficult to digest) should be avoided.
  • Ajirna (Indigestion)

    Diminished Jatharagni (Digestive juices) due to excessive food and water intake, irregular dietary and sleeping habits and mental factors like fear, anger, anxiety and depression are the conditions when even light food is not digested is the condition classified as Ajirna
    Signs and symptoms   Indigestion, heaviness in the body, retention of gases and constipation or loose motions are common among such persons suffering from it.
    Simple treatment Water should be avoided immediately after food or warm water should be drink 15 -20 minutes after food
    1. Kvatha (Kecoction or Tea) of equal parts of Dhanyaka (Coriander) and Sunthi (dried Ginger) -20-30 ml., to be taken twice daily, before meals
    2. Kvatha (Decoction or Tea) from equal parts of Lavanga (Clove), fruit rind of Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) and Saindhava (Rock salt) – 20-30 ml., is to be taken twice daily, before meals.
    3. Prepare a hot lepa (poultice) from equal parts of Hingu (Asafoetida), Trikatu (Equal parts of ginger, piper longum and black pepper) and Saindhava (Rock salt) by adding sufficient quantity of hot water. It may be externally applied to the abdomen, when it’s warm to relieve abdominal discomfort.
    Pathya Light diet, soup, Radish, Patola (fruits of Tricosanthes dioica), Karela (Bitter gourd), Dadima (Pomegranate), Lemon juice, Hingu (Asafoetida) should be added to food and warm water for drinking are to be consumed.
    Apathya Cold water, Guru ahara (Heavy, Fried and any food Difficult to digest) should be avoided.
  • Atisara (Acute diarrhoea)

    Atisara is a condition in which patient frequently passes liquid motions.
    Signs and symptoms   Ayurveda classifies this condition into two types from treatment point of view viz. Amatisara and Pakvatisara
    1. Amatisara: If the patient of diarrhoea passes Pichhila (Slimy) faeces with foul smell which sinks in water it’s called Amatisara.
    2. Pakvatisara: If the patient of diarrhoea feels lightness in the body and his faeces does not sink but float on the water it’s called Pakvatisara.
    Simple treatment
    1. Amatisara:
      • Powder of bhrasta Jiraka (dry fried or roasted Cumin) or fruit of Pippali (Long pepper) or Sunthi (dried Ginger)-5Gms. mixed with 1 Liter of Takra (Butter milk) divided into four draughts, each dose is to be taken 6 hourly.
      • 1-3 Gms. of Sunthi (dried Ginger) powder taken with equal parts of Sarkara (raw Sugar) twice daily is useful for relieving the symptoms of Amatisara.
    2. Pakvatisara:
      • Powder of fruit pulp of Bilva (Bael) – 3 - 6 Gms. mixed with Takra (Butter milk) 100-250 Ml. to be taken 3 - 4 times daily.
      • Powder of bark of Kutaja (Holarrhena antidysentrica) or seeds of the same -3-6 Gms. to be taken with Takra (Butter milk) 100 – 250 Ml. 3 – 4 times daily till relieved
    Pathya Light diet of rice & little Ghrata (Ghee) for Amatisara and Pakvatisara both.
    Apathya Food which is digested easily for Amatisara and Pakvatisara both.
  • Pravahika (Dysentery)

    Signs and symptoms   Pravahika is a condition in which patient passes stool in small quantity with mucus, slimy or blood stained with considerable strain, gripping pain and burning sensation.
    Simple treatment
    1. Fruit pulp of Bilva (Bael) - 3Gms. with Guda (Jaggery) three times daily.
    2. Seed of Isabgol (Plantago) – 3Gms. to be taken with water three times daily.
    3. Take powder of Isabgol (Plantago), fruit pulp of Bilva (Bael), fruit of Mishreya (Fennel) and Sarkara (raw sugar) in equal parts. Its 3 – 6 Gms. is to be taken with Takra (Butter milk) twice or thrice daily.
    Pathya Old Sali (old Rice), Masoor (Lentil), Milk, Jambu (Jamun), Dadima (Pomegranate), Ardraka (Ginger), Sunthi (dried Ginger) and Bilva (Bael) Kadali (Banana), are useful for the patient.
    Apathya The consumption of Ushna (Hot), Guru (Heavy and difficult to be digested), Acidic, Virudha ahara (Incompatible Food items), Masa (black phaseolus Bean) and Yava (Barley) should be avoided.
  • Amlapitta (Hyper acidity)

    Is the disease caused by the excessive formation of acid in the stomach and due to that patient feels burning sensation in throat heart and stomach area
    Signs and symptoms   Bitter and acidic eructation, burning sensation in throat and heart area, nausea, loss of appetite, indigestion, guruta (prostration and heaviness in body) are the present in the patient.
    Simple treatment
    1. Narikela Jal (Coconut water) – 100 – 500 Ml. twice daily.
    2. Powder of Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) – 3- 6 Gms. with 100-200 Ml. of milk or water, twice daily.
    Pathya It is always better to keep the patient on milk and soft diet.
    Apathya Guru (heavy -difficult to be digested), Acidic, Naveen anna (newly harvested cereals), Virudha ahara (incompatible food items), Masha (black phaseolus bean), Oily food and Madya (wines).
  • Arochaka (Anorexia)

    Arochaka is a condition in which a person does not desire to have food.
    Signs and symptoms   Kasaya taste is present due to Vata, Amla (sour or acidic) taste, bad breath or foul smell from mouth due to Pitta, sweet or salty taste and sliminess and heaviness in mouth due to Kapha are very common along with Loss of appetite.
    Simple treatment
    1. Ardraka (Ginger) and Lavana (common Salt) should be taken twice daily, before meals.
    2. Cut Nimbu (lemon) into two halves, sprinkle little of Maricha (black Pepper) and Lavana (common Salt), its juice should be sucked 3-4 times during day time.
    3. Take Draksha (dried Grapes), take out the seed, warm it, than sprinkle little of Black salt on it, keep in mouth and suck it for some time.
    4. Take fruits of Pippali (Long pepper), Chavya (Piper chaba), Yavani (Ajowan-Trachyspermum ammi) and Chincha (Tamarind), all should be taken in equal parts, cleaned and finely grinded together to make Churan (Powder). This powder should be kept on tongue and chewed for a long time, 3-4 times daily till taste is normal.
    5. Take juice of seeds from Dadima (Pomegranate) -20 Ml. add 1 Gm. of Black salt and 20 Gms. of Honey to it, mix thoroughly. This should be used as Kavala (Mouth wash), means keep in mouth for 2 minutes, 3-4 times during day.
    Pathya Takra (Butter milk), Wheat, Milk, Ghee, Rasona (Garlic), Draksha (Raisin or Grapes), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Dadima (Pomegranate), Amra (Mango) and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) are good for the patient suffering from Arochaka.
    Apathya Suppression of Hunger, Anger, Freight, Shock, Uncherished Food and Living in unhygienic conditions.
  • Mutrashmari (Stone in bladder)

    Mutrashmari is a condition due to formation or lodging of a stone in urinary passage.
    Signs and symptoms   Severe pain in or around umbilical or urinary region referring towards urinary passage organ, obstruction in passing urine or lack of flow of urine, due to which urine passes drop by drop with great difficulty or intense pain in effort to pass urine. Pain is mild but aggravates while walking or some times drops of blood present in urine are commonly found signs and symptoms.
    Simple treatment
    1. Powdered fruits of Gokshur (Small caltrops-Tribulus terrestris) - 4 Gms. to be taken with sufficient quantity of Honey to make paste of it, followed by Cow’s milk, to be taken twice daily.
    2. Powdered seeds of Kulattha (Dolichos bean) – 50 – 100 Gms. boiled with sufficient quantity of water to make decoction, should be taken twice every day till relieved.
    3. Decoction prepared from Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) - 20 – 30 Ml., twice daily.
    4. Decoction made from Varuna bark (Crataeva nurvala)-12 Gms., Sunthi (dried ginger)- 2 Gms., Gokshura fruit (small caltrops-Tribulus terrestris)-6 Gms. its 20-40 Ml. is to be taken twice everyday, with Yavakshara-.5 Gms. and Guda (Jaggery) -25 Gms.
    Pathya Old Sali (variety of Rice), Seeds of Kulattha (Dolichos bean), Ardraka (Ginger) and fruits of Kushmanda (Benincasa hispida) with liquid or soft diet.
    Apathya Viruddha ahara (Incompatible foods), constipating food, Guru (Heavy), lot of liquids. Avoid suppression of natural urge of urination.
  • Adhyamana (Tympanites)

    Signs and symptoms   Distension of abdomen due to accumulation of gases, accompanied by colic pain is known as Adhyamana.
    Simple treatment
    1. Hot fomentation and local application of turpentine oil on abdomen.
    2. Ardraka (Ginger) – 5 Gms. and Saindhava (Rock salt) - 1 Gm. to be taken twice daily.
    3. Decoction of equal parts of Triphala and Trikatu 20-30 Ml. to be taken twice daily.
    4. *Hinguashtaka churan- 3-6 Gms. to be taken with 50 Ml. of warm water, twice daily.

    * Classical Ayurvedic formulation and should be taken under supervision of Ayurvedic Physician.

    Pathya Laghu ahara (Light food), old Sali (variety of Rice), Rasona (Garlic), Karela fruits (Bitter gourd), Shigru (Horse radish) should be part of diet of person suffering.
    Apathya

    Legumes, Tila (Sesame), Rooksha ahara (Dry foods), Viruddha ahara (Incompatible foods), Unnatural postures, Sexual activity, Waking till late night, Exercise, Suppression of natural urges, Anger and Grief should be avoided.

  • Anaha, Baddhakoshtha (Constipation)

    Anaha is a condition, caused by slow or gradual accumulation of Purisha (faecal matter), in the intestines due to Vata imbalance or vitiation.
    Signs and symptoms   Retention of faeces and urine, acute pain, fainting, vomiting of faeces like matter, with foul smell and oedema. Serious cases might need hospitalization.
    Simple treatment
    1. Lepa (local application by adding fresh water) of Hingu (asafoetida) around umbilicus.
    2. Fruit pulp of Aragvadha (Cassia fistula) - 5 Gms. and Sarkara (raw Sugar) -10 Gms. with 50- 100 Ml. of warm water, twice daily till relieved.
    3. Haritaki churan (powder of fruit rind of Terminalia chebula) - 5 Gms. and Lavana (common Salt) - 0.5 Gm. with water, daily at bed time.
    4. Triphala churan- 3- 6 Gms. twice daily with warm water.
    Pathya Laghu ahara (light Food), old Sali (variety of Rice), Rasona (Garlic), Karela fruits (Bitter gourd), Shigru (Horse radish) should be part of diet of person suffering.

  • Amavata (Rheumatism)

    Vitiated Vata and Ama join together and affect Koshtha (channels) and Sandhi (joints), than cause pain, stiffness, in joints, loss of appetite, indigestion, stiffness all-over body, weakness and Guruta (heaviness) are common with persons suffering from Amavata.
    Signs and symptoms   Scorpion sting like pain and inflammation of affected joints, particularly-hand, foot, knee and sacrum. Loss of appetite, indigestion, fever, stiffness of any part or whole body
    Simple treatment
    1. Rooksha swed (fomentation with Sand or Sand bag) and application of Vishagarbha Tail afterwards.
    2. Powdered Sunthi (dried Ginger) -2 Gms. to be taken twice daily with warm water.
    3. Decoction of equal parts of Sunthi (dried Ginger) and stem of Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) - 20-30 Ml. to be taken with powdered Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) - 6 Gms, twice daily.
    4. Panchakola (equal quantities of Pippali -Piper Longum, Pippali Moola- root of Piper Longum, Chavya -Piper chaba, Chitraka-Plumbago zeylanica, Sunthi-dried ginger) -15 – 20 Gms. boiled in 2 Ltrs. Of water for drinking during daytime.
    Pathya Warm water, Ardraka (Ginger), Rasona (Garlic), Karela (Bitter gourd) and Laghu ahara (Food which digests easily).
    Apathya Guru Ahara (Food which is heavy, takes long to get digested), Curd, Non-vegetarian food, Over-eating, Viruddha ahara (Incompatible foods), Exposure to winter or Excessively cold conditions, Suppression of Natural urges and winds flowing from eastern direction.
  • Amashaya Vrana, Annadrava Shoola, Parinama Shoola (Gastric and Duodenal ulcer)

    Abdominal pain which is related to food intake is called Amashaya vrana (peptic ulcer). Depending upon the site of ulceration it is of two types, viz. Anna-drava shoola (Gastric ulcer) and Parinama shoola (Duodenal ulcer).
    Signs and symptoms
    1. Annadrava shoola (Gastric ulcer): Such ulcers happen in stomach and pain due to this appears immediately after meals or during digestion but disappears after vomiting.
    2. Parinama shoola (Duodenal ulcer): Such pain occurs after digestion of food i.e. 3 - 4 hours after meals. Its other symptoms are nausea and vomiting.
    Simple treatment Treatments for both are more or less same.
    1. Amalaki churna (powdered Emblica officinalis) - 3-6 Gms. is to be taken with 100 Ml. milk twice daily.
    2. Powdered Shatavari (root of Asparagus) - 3-6 Gms. with 100 Ml. milk, twice daily.
    3. Decoction prepared from whole plant of Bhringraja (Eclipta alba) - 20-30 Ml., is to be taken twice daily.
    Pathya Keep the person on milk diet, milk and milk products, banana, small and repeated meals are good for such patients.
    Apathya Food having amla (acidic), katu (bitter), Lavan (salty), fried and spicy food is harmful for such individuals suffering from it. Waking till late night, Exercise, Suppression of natural urges, Anger and Grief should be avoided.
  • Kamala (Jaundice)

    Is a condition characterised by yellow colouration of eyes, skin, nails and urine.
    Signs and symptoms   Loss of appetite, weakness, fatigue, constipation, indigestion, nausea and passing of reddish-yellow urine are the specific signs and symptoms of Koshthashrita Kamala (Medical jaundice). Shakhashrita kamala (Surgical jaundice), the other type as per Ayurveda needs special medical attention and should be dealt by experts.
    Simple treatment
    1. Swaras (juice) obtained from stem of Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) - 15 Ml. to be taken with equal quantity of Honey.
    2. Powdered Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)- 3 Gms., to be taken with sufficient quantity of Honey, to make paste to be taken twice every day.
    Pathya Sali rice, Wheat, Masoor (Lentil), Patola (a variety of small Cucumber), Kadali (Banana), Mooli (radish) and Sugarcane juice are advised in Ayurveda.
    Apathya Guru Dravya (Food that digests late or with difficulty), Ghee and fried food should be avoided. Excessive walking, Exercise, Anger and any type of Physical exertion are harmful for a person suffering from Kamala.
  • Suska-Kasa (Dry cough)

    Cough without expectoration is called Suska-Kasa, in Ayurveda.
    Signs and symptoms   Dry and frequent cough, pain around heart, temples, head, abdomen and sides, suffocation like feeling in the chest region, feverish or fever, dryness in mouth, thirst and hoarseness of voice are most common symptoms of Suska-Kasa.
    Simple treatment
    1. Powdered root and fruit of Pippali (Long pepper) and Sunthi (dried Ginger) in equal parts, should be taken 3-6 Gms., twice daily, with Madhu (Honey) 10-15 Gms.
    2. *Sitopaladi churana- 2-3 Gms., with Honey-8-10 Gms., to be taken twice daily.
    3. Lavanga (Clove) fried in ghee, if kept in mouth and chewed, relieves dry cough.
    4. *Lavangadi vati or *Eladi vati-1 vati (small Tablet) to be sucked – 4-6 times daily.

    * Classical Ayurvedic formulation and should be taken under supervision of Ayurvedic Physician.

    Pathya Wheat, Beans, Sali (Rice), Draksha (Raisin), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Honey and warm water.
    Apathya Bilva (Bael), Brinjal, Karela (Bitter gourd), Red mustard, Oily and Spicy foods, Daytime sleeping, Anger, Sexual activity and Cold water. * Classical Ayurvedic formulations.
  • Ardra-Kasa (Cough with expectoration)

    Cough with expectoration is called as Ardra Kasa.
    Signs and symptoms   Person in this disease has regular bouts of cough and expectorates thick phlegm in large quantity, his mouth remains coated with phlegm and feels lethargy, regular headache, loss of appetite and tries to remain in bed due to weakness.
    Simple treatment
    1. Juice of Ardraka (Ginger) - 14 Ml. and equal quantity of Honey twice daily.
    2. Warm water-3 parts and Honey- 1 part is to be taken twice daily.
    3. Trikatu churana- 1 Gm. with equal parts of raw Sugar or Honey, twice daily.
    4. Powdered Draksha (Raisin), Madhuyashthi (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Kharjura (Dates) and Maricha (Black pepper) in equal parts to be taken 2-3 Gms in every dose with 4-6 Gms of Honey, twice every day relieves symptoms well.
    5. *Sitopaladi churna or *Talisadi churana – 2-3 Gms With 4-6 Gms Honey twice daily.
    6. *Vyosadi vati, *Khadiradi vati or *Eladi vati – 1 vati (small tablet) to be kept in mouth and chewed, 4-6 times every day.
    7. *Chyavanprasha-15-25 Gms. is to be taken, twice daily with warmed milk.

    * Classical Ayurvedic formulation and should be taken under supervision of Ayurvedic Physician.

  • Jirna-Kasa (Chronic cough)

    Suska-Kasa and Ardra-Kasa if neglected or left un-treated convert to Jirna-Kasa.
    Signs and symptoms   In this condition the person have regular bouts of cough with or without phlegm. May have weakness, lethargy, headache, loss of appetite and wants to remain in bed.
    Simple treatment
    1. Swaras (Juice) of fresh leaves of Krishna Tulasi (Black Basil) - 10 – 15 Ml. is to be taken with 8-10 Gms. Of Honey.
    2. Powdered Maricha (Black Pepper) – 1 Gm. is to be taken with 8-10 Gms. Of Honey.
    3. Powdered Draksha (raisin), Madhuyashthi (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Kharjura (Dates) and Maricha (Black pepper) in equal parts to be taken 2-3 Gms in every dose with 4-6 Gms of Honey, twice every day relieves symptoms well.
    4. *Sitopaladi churna or *Talisadi churana – 2-3 Gms With 4-6 Gms Honey twice daily.
    5. *Vyosadi vati, *Khadiradi vati or *Eladi vati – 1 vati (small tablet) to be kept in mouth and chewed, 4-6 times every day.
    6. *Chyavanprasha-15-25 Gms. is to be taken, twice daily with warmed milk.

  • Swar-Bheda (Hoarseness)

    When voice becomes hoarse, it is called Swar-Bheda in Ayurveda.
    Signs and symptoms   Hoarseness of voice, burning sensation of throat, low pitch of voice, less and slow talking are main symptoms of Swar- Bheda.
    Simple treatment
    1. Regular chewing of root of Madhuyashti (Glycyrrhiza glabra) relives symptoms well.
    2. Powder of Sunthi (Dry ginger) - 2-4 Gms. Is to be taken with 8-10 Gms of Honey.
    3. Honey-15-20 Gms. Dissolved in warmed water 100 Ml. 3-4 times daily.
    4. *Sitopaladi churna – 2-3 Gms With 4-6 Gms Honey twice daily.
    5. *Khadiradi vati – 1 vati (small tablet) to be sucked 4-6 times every day helps well.

    * Classical Ayurvedic formulation and should be taken under supervision of Ayurvedic Physician.

    Pathya Seeds of Yava (Barley), Karela (Bitter gourd), Patola (Small cucumber), Methi (Fenugreek) and Tambula (Beatel leaf) are good for persons suffering from Swar-Bheda.
    Apathya

    Dadhi (Curd), Amla Ahara (Acidic food), Sheetal (Cold) and Guru (Heavy or Difficult to digest) food are harmful for the person suffering from Swar-Bheda.

  • Galayu (Tonsillitis)

    Inflammation of Tonsils (small, round, ball like soft mass structures inside throat) is called Galayu in Ayurvedic system of medicine. Cases with high and regular fever should be referred to specialist.
    Signs and symptoms   Pain in throat, difficulty in swallowing and fever are commonly found symptoms with person suffering from Galayu.
    Simple treatment-
    1. Gargle many times with Yavakshar (Lixivated ash of Hordeum vulgare) or Lavan (Common salt) dissolved in warmed water.
    2. Gargle with Sphatika (Alum) - 1 Gm. And hot water 200 Ml. 4-5 times daily.
    3. *Sitopaladi churna or *Talisadi churana – 2-3 Gms With 4-6 Gms Honey twice daily
    4. *Vyosadi vati, *Khadiradi vati or *Eladi vati – 1 vati (Small tablet) to be kept in mouth and chewed, 4-6 times every day.
    Pathya – Seeds of Yava (Barley), Karela (Bitter gourd), Patola (Small cucumber), Methi (Fenugreek) and Tambula (Beatel leaf) are good for persons suffering from Swar-Bheda.

    Signs and Symptoms   Pain in abdomen, discoloration of tongue and skin, regular itching around Guda (Anus), loss of appetite, loose motions, fever, nausea, vomiting, giddiness, weakness and rashes over skin are commonly found in persons with Krimi Roga.
    Simple treatment
    1. Powdered seeds of Vidanga (Embelia ribes) - 1 Gm. Is to be taken with Honey sufficient to make workable paste twice daily.
    2. Powdered seeds of Shigru (Horse reddish)-2 Gms. Daily with water.
    3. Powder of equal parts of Vidanga (Embelia ribes), Saindhava (Rock salt), Yavakshar (Lixivated ash of Hordeum vulgare), Kampillaka (Mallotus philippinensis) and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) - 2- 3 Gms. To be taken with Takra (Buttermilk) or Water.
    4. *Vidangadi churan- 1 Gm. is to be taken with Honey in sufficient quantity(to make paste) twice daily
    5. . *Vidangarishta- 20 Ml. with equal quantity of water, twice daily after meals.
    Pathya Ushtra dugdha (Camel’s milk), Karela (Bitter gourd), Kadali (Banana), Hingu (Asafoetida) and Tikta (Sour) dravya are good for the patient of Krimi Roga.
    Apathya Madhura (Sweets), Masha (Black beans), Viruddha ahara (Incompatible food articles), Curd, Milk and its products are harmful for persons suffering from Krimi Roga.

  • Arunshika (Furunculosis)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Excessive shedding of flakes from scalp due to dryness, lice and vitiation of Vata is called Arunshika.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Wash hair with decoction of Nimba (Neem, Azadirachta indica) frequently.
    2. Apply Lepa prepared from powdered rhizome of Haridra (Turmeric).
    3. Take Mustard oil 10 Ml. add 5 Ml. curd together, mix well and apply thoroughly to scalp leave for 20 – 30 Minutes, rinse off thoroughly while bathing apply daily or every alternate day or once or twice daily.
    Pathya

    Tikta (Bitter) Dravya, Wheat, Masoor (Lentil), Ghrita, Cucumber, Patola (Small cucumber) and Rasona (Garlic). External application of Mustard oil, Tila taila (Sesame- Gingely oil) and Nimba tail (oil of seeds of Neem- Azadirachta indica) are good for person having Arunshika.

    Apathya

  • Yuvana pidika (Acne)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Appearance of thorn like nodules on face of young people is called Yuvan-Pidika.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Powder of thorns of Shalmali (Silk cotton tree) or of Priyala (Cuddaph Almond) prepared in Godugdha (Cow’s milk) apply daily and keep for 1-2 Hours than rinse off.
    2. Paste of Jatiphala (Nutmeg) prepared in water to be applied on affected part of face.
    3. . Paste of powders of Gokshur (Small caltrops), Rakta chandan (Red sandal), Lodhra (Symplocos crataegoides), Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Masoor (Lentil) and Priyangu (Calicarpa macrophylla) in equal quantities and made in fresh milk to be applied on face avoiding eyes, and kept for two hours or overnight.
    Pathya

  • Padadari (Chapped soles)

    Foot sole and base of toe partly or whole when turns dry, coarse and rough and chapped is called Padadari in Ayurveda.
    Signs and Symptoms

      Due to excessive walking without shoes or in winters causes Pdadari due to vitiation of Vata. Feet turn dry, coarse, rough, cracked and sometimes painful due to fissures is called Padadari

    Simple Treatment
    1. . Dip the affected foot in Luke warm water for 15-20 minutes, dry it thoroughly and apply Til tail (sesame oil) on affected area.
    2. Pre-melted Madhuchhishta (Bees wax)- 20 Gms., with Yavakshar (Lixivated ash of Hordeum vulgare)- 20 Gms., and Mustard oil- 20 Gms. together, mix thoroughly and apply on affected part or whole foot.
    Pathya Wear proper socks. Keep oiling your lower limbs frequently.
    Apathya Avoid walking bare foot especially in winters.
  • Pratishyaya (Coryza,Common cold)

    Sneezing, heaviness in the head, stiffness and pain in body are commonly found in person suffering from Pratishyaya (Common cold, coryza).
    Signs and Symptoms   Ayurveda classifies it in five types.
    1. Vataja pratishyaya: Obstruction of nasal passage due to inflammation, watery discharge from nose, frequent and excessive sneezing and hoarseness of voice and dryness of throat are main symptoms of Vataj pratishyaya.
    2. Pittaja pratishyaya: Warm and yellow discharge from nose and hotness in head and body are mainly found in the person suffering from Pittaja pratishyaya.
    3. Kaphaja pratishyaya: White coloured thick discharge from nose, heaviness or numbness in head are main symptoms of it.
    4. Sannipataja pratishyaya: Frequent or regular bouts of pratishyaya are common here.
    Simple Treatment
    1. Herbal tea made of a pinch of Sunthi (Dried Ginger), Fresh Tulasi (Holi basil) leaves- 5-6, Maricha (Black pepper)- 5 or 6, all crushed and boiled for 8-10 minutes will help to make breathing easy and decongest stuffed nose.
    2. Decoction of equal parts of Draksha (Raisin), Maricha (Black pepper), Leaves of Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), Twak (Dalchini- Cinnamon bark), root of Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza) and Water 250 Ml., for making it. Take – 20-30 Ml., of it with 8-10 Gms of Sarkara (Raw sugar) thrice daily.
    3. *Tribuvankirti Rasa- 1-2 Vati (Tablet) crushed and added to Honey (sufficient to make paste) or with fresh juice of Ardraka (Ginger)-15-20 Ml., should be taken till symptoms subside and as and when required afterwards.
    Pathya

    Laghu ahara (light food), Warm water and Trikatu (Equal quantities of Sunthi- Dried ginger, Maricha-Black pepper and Pippali-Piper longum) churan are the useful food articles for the person suffering from it.

    Apathya

    Guru Ahara (Difficult to digest food), Viruddha ahara (difficult to digest food) and suppression of calls of nature, daytime sleep and anger should be avoided. * Classical Ayurvedic formulation and should be taken under supervision of Ayurvedic Physician.

  • Pinasa (Ozaena, Sinusitis)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Initially the patient has Heaviness in head, Loss of appetite and Discharge from nose with Change in voice. In later stage the discharge becomes thick and sticky which is accumulated in sinuses of the nose and than patient has regular heaviness of head (which is more prominent in fore head), Loss of smell and taste are very common with him.

    Simple Treatment
    1. . Boil Ardraka (fresh Ginger)-10 Gms. in 250 Ml. Milk, drink everyday at bedtime.
    2. Take 3-4 Gms. of Powder of equal parts of Trikatu (Equal quantities of Sunthi- Dried ginger, Maricha-Black pepper and Pippali-Piper longum) churan, root bark of Chitraka (Leadwort-Plumbago zeylanica), leaves of Talisa patra (Himalayan silver fir) and Tejpatra (Cinnamomum tamala), fruit of Chincha (Tamarind), Jiraka (Cumin), Ela (Cardamom), Amlavetasa (Rheum emodi), Chavya (Piper chaba) and Twak (Dalchini-Cinnamomum bark) in equal quantities, with Guda (Jaggery)- 5 Gms. It should be taken thrice daily

    Pathya

  • Pandu roga (Anaemia)

    General weakness, palpitation, dryness, lack of sweating and regular fatigue is present due to qualitative or quantitative reduction in Red blood Cells and Hemoglobin is present in the persons with Pandu roga

    Signs and Symptoms

      Pandu roga: Pallor look, weak Jatharagni (Digestive power), aversion of food, excessive salivation, fatigue, general weakness, loss of luster of body, giddiness, irritability, feverish feeling, disliking to worldly affairs, pain and cramps in limbs, heaviness in the body, breathlessness during exercise like climbing, walking and day to day chorus are generally present in person suffering from Pandu roga.
    Mrad Janya Pandu roga (Anemia due to worm infestation): Oedema on face especially on cheeks, eyelids, eye pits and legs. The patient passes worms in stool and develops diarrhea with mucus and blood present in stool are present in person suffering from Mrad Janya Pandu roga.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Ikshu ras (Juice of Sugarcane) – 250-300 Ml. to be taken thrice daily.
    2. Powder of Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) or Sunthi (dried Ginger) – 2-3 Gms. to be taken with Guda (Jaggery) – 25- 30 Gms. to be taken twice daily.
    3. *Dhatri lauha or *Punarnavadi mandur or *Dhatri lauha- 1 Gm. to be taken with 250 – 300 Ml. milk twice daily.
    Pathya

    Wheat, Masura (Lentil), Pigeon pea, Patola (Small gourd), Punarnava (Pigweed), Kadali (Banana), Jambu (Jamun), Draksha (Raisin), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Dadima (Pomegranate), Guava, Amra (Mango), Papita (Papaya), Rasona (Garlic), Haridra (Turmeric), Takra (Butter milk), curd and Guda (Jaggery) are useful food articles for persons suffering from Pandu roga.

    Apathya

    Lavan (Salt) and Amla (Acidic) Rasa, Guru (Heavy) dravya (food), Masa (Black beans), mustard seeds and oil and Madya (Wine) are harmful for Pandu rogi (Patient of anemia). Excessive water intake, exposure to sun, hard work, exercise, anger, excessive walking and suppression of calls of the nature should be avoided.

  • Dantaveshtha (Pyorrhea)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Discharge of blood and pus is present in this condition which causes foul smell, bad breath and swelling of gums due to infection of alveolar tissue which causes loosening of teeth is called Dantaveshtha (Pyorrhea).

    Simple Treatment
    1. Mouth wash of equal parts of Sunthi (dried Ginger), Sarshapa (Mustard) and Triphala (equal quantities of Amalaki- Emblica officinalis, Haritaki-Terminalia chebula and Vibhitaka- Terminalia belerica) in water twice daily after every meal.
    2. Kaval (Retain in mouth) with mixture of decoction of Pippali (Piper longum), Honey and Ghrita (Ghee) twice daily.
    3. Massage gums with Saindhava (Rock salt) twice daily.
    4. Mouth wash with dehydrated Sphatika (Alum) – 1 Gm., dissolved in 100 Ml., warmed water twice daily.
    Pathya

    Katu (Bitter), Tikta dravya, all grains, fruits and laghu (Light) ahara are useful.

    Apathya

    Ruksha (Dry and rough) ahara, Masa (Black beans), Curd, Milk, Guda (Jaggery), Chewing of hard substances, Day time sleep and Eating of sweets is harmful.

  • Krimidanta (Caries of teeth)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Due to vitiation of Vata a black cavity is formed in tooth causing its decay which leads to inflammation, discharge and looseness of tooth causing intense pain in tooth is called Krimidanta.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Apply Lavanga tail (Clove oil) on affected tooth.
    2. Fill cavity with Hingu (Asafoetida) fried in Ghee.
    3. Solution of Yavakshar (Lixivated ash of Hordeum vulgare) – 1 Gm., in 50 Ml. of water
    Pathya

    Katu (Bitter), Tikta dravya, all grains, fruits and laghu (Light) ahara are useful.

    Apathya

    Ruksha (Dry and rough) ahara, Masa (Black beans), Curd, Milk, Guda (Jaggery), Chewing of hard substances, Day time sleep and Eating of sweets is harmful.

  • Mutrakrachha (Dysurea)

    Painful micturation due to various reasons is called Mutrakrachha in Ayurveda.
    Signs and Symptoms

      The patient passes small quantities of urine frequently with difficulty, pain and burning sensation. The urine can be with traces of blood.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Hot milk – 200 Ml., with 10 Gms., Sarkara (Sugar) thrice daily.
    2. Decoction of fruit of Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) - 20 - 30 Ml., thrice daily.
    3. Svaras (Fruit Juice) of Kantakari (Yellow berried nighshade - Solanum xanthocarpum) - 20 Ml., with Honey - 10 Gms., added should be taken thrice daily.
    4. *Chandraprabha vati – 1 or 2 vati (Tablet) to be taken with hot milk, thrice daily.
    Pathya

    Cold water, Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Kharjura (Dates), Pulp of Kumari (Aloe vera), Curd, Ghee, Yava (Barley) and Takra (Butter milk) are good for the patient of Mutrakrachha.

    Apathya

    Ardraka (Ginger), Leaves of Sarsapa (Mustard), Madya (Wine) and Hingu (Asafoetida) should be avoided. Riding and suppression of natural urges should be avoided.

  • Mutraghaat (Retention of urine)

    When the patient is unable to pass urine it is called Mutraghaat.
    Signs and Symptoms

      The patient is unable to pass urine or passes few drops of urine though his urinary bladder is full, is called Mutraghaat.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Hot fomentation is helpful.
    2. *Dashamula kashaya – 20 – 30 Ml., to be taken with 500 Mg. to 1 Gm., of Shilajit (Asphaltum) and Sarkara (Sugar) – 10 Gms., dissolved in it to be taken thrice daily
    Pathya

    Coconut water, Kharjura (Dates), Curd, Ghee, Yava (Barley), Takra (Butter milk) and massage are good for the patient of Mutraghaat.

    Apathya

    Heavy (Difficult to digest) food, Riding, suppression of natural calls and sexual activity is strictly not advised for a patient of Mutraghaat.

  • Medo-vraddhi (Obesity)

    Excessive accumulation of fat in the region of abdomen, chest, thigh and hip areas of the body leading to many complications is called Medo-vraddhi or Medo- roga in Ayurveda.
    Signs and Symptoms

      Such persons suffer from excessive sweating with offensive smell, hunger, thirst, bad breath, difficulty in walking, breathlessness, snoring, restlessness in summers and difficulty in sexual activity due to obesity. This may lead to Heart diseases, Diabetes, Paralysis, Hypertension and Arthritis. Grossly obese people have pear or apple shaped body.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Gradually control dietary intake with the help of dietician and increase physical activity. If obesity is not due to overeating or complications occur, specialist should be consulted for expert advice.
    2. Thrice daily intake of Honey – 15 – 20 Gms., mixed with Hot water – 100 – 200 Ml., is advocated in Ayurveda.
    3. Powdered seeds of Vidanga (Embelia ribes) – 2- 3 Gms., with Honey – 8 10 Gms., twice daily.
    4. Shuddha Gugglu (Commiphora mukul) 1 – 2 Gms., twice daily with luke warm water.
    5. *Navak gugglu and - 1 - 2 Gms., to be taken three times with warm water.
    6. *Triphala gugglu – 1 - 2 Gms., with honey twice daily.
    Pathya

    Masura (Lentil), Bhrashta Vartaka (Fried Brinjal), Takra (Butter milk) and Running or brisk walking are good for persons suffering from Medo vraddhi or Obesity

    Apathya

    Milk and milk products, Masha (Black beans), excessive consumption of Sweets and sugar based products, chocolates, candies and daytime sleep are harmful.

  • Sandhi Vata (Arthritis)

    When swelling, pain and stiffness affect big joints it is called Sandhi Vata in Ayurveda.
    Signs and Symptoms

      Impaired functioning of body due to acute pain, inflammation and stiffness affecting mobility of big joints is called Sandhi Vata in Ayurveda. It happens due to vitiation of Vata.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Eranda tail (Castor oil) – 12 to 24 Ml., to be taken with warm water or hot milk for Virechana (Purgation) once daily.
    2. Shuddha Gugglu (purified Commiphora mukul) - 2 - 3 Gms., to be taken thrice daily.
    3. Lepa (Poultice) of mixture of Sarshapa (Mustard) seeds, Elvaluka (Aloe), Bark of Shigru (Horse raddish), Maricha (Black pepper) Ardraka (Ginger), Krashna lavan (Black salt) and root of Dhattura (Datura) to be applied hot on affected joint.
    4. *Yogaraja gugglu - 1 - 2 Gms., to be taken thrice daily with warm water.
    Pathya

    Hot water, Light and easy to digest food. Light exercise and relaxing yoga.

    Apathya

    Cold water, Heavy and difficult to digest food, Lean and dry meat, Riding, sedentary life, waking up till late night and anger are harmful for the person suffering from Sandhi Vata.

  • Visuchika (Gastroenteritis)

    Sudden onset of acute diarrhoea, vomiting and other related symptoms is called Visuchika in Ayurveda.
    Signs and Symptoms

      Acute diarrhoea, vomiting, thirst, burning sensation, colicky pain in abdomen, yawning, giddiness, Spasm in the body, discoloration of skin, tremors, heaviness in head and headache are mainly found in persons suffering from Visuchika.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Boiled and cooled water added with Lavanga (Clove) or Jatiphala (Nutmeg) for quenching of thirst. Narikela jala (Coconut water) can also be used if available.
    2. Decoction of equal parts of fruit pulp of Bilva (Bael), Sunthi (dried Ginger) and Bark of Katphala (Box myrtle-Myrica nagi) – 20 – 30 Ml., thrice daily.
    3. Vati made of equal parts of Karpura (Camphor), Hingu (Asafoetida) fried in Ghrita (Ghee), Maricha (Black pepper), bulb of Rasona (Garlic), Old Guda (Old Jaggery) – 250 Mg., to be taken with warm water twice daily.
    4. *Chitrakadi vati – 2 – 4 vati (Pills) to be taken twice daily with warm water.
    5. *Shankha vati – 2- 4 vati (Pills) to be taken twice daily with warm water.
    Pathya

    Light diet, soup, Radish, Patola (fruits of Tricosanthes dioica), Karela (Bitter gourd), Dadima (Pomegranate), Lemon juice, Hingu (Asfoetida) should be added to food and warm water for drinking are to be consumed.

    Apathya

    Cold water, Guru Ahara (heavy, fried and any food difficult to digest) should be avoided.

  • Shirah Shool (Headache)

    The feeling of discomfort in head or headache is called Shirah shool in Ayurveda.
    Signs and Symptoms

      Discomfort in head or headache happens due to vitiation of Vata, Pitta, Kapha and some times due to Kshaya or Krimi (Lices). Ayurvedic texts classify it into 4 types depending upon Dosha mainly:

    1. Vataj shirah shool: This type of Shirah shool happens without any specific cause and particularly increases in nightand subsides by warm oil application or bandage.
    2. Pittaja shirah shool: This type of headache disappears in night or by cold applications, the patient has the burning sensation in eyes, nose and feeling of heat in this headache.
    3. Kaphaj shirah shool: In such type of headache stiffness and heaviness in the head, swelling of eyes and face are generally found.
    4. Raktaja shirah shool: If the patient has the symptoms similar to Pittaja shirah shool with tenderness in the head than it is called Raktaja shirah shool.
    Simple Treatment
    1. *Godanti bhasma (Gypsum) – 1 Gm., to be taken with 8 10 Gm., Honey twice daily.
    2. *Pathyadi kvath – 15 – 30 Ml., should be taken three times daily.

  • Ardhav Bhedaka (Hemicrania)

    Signs and Symptoms

      The pain which appears in lateral half portion of head is called Ardhav Bhedaka. This acute pain is always confined to one side of head and is so severs that the sufferer has feeling of cutting, splitting, slitting, burning and hammering feeling in half of fore head, temples, ear and back of head.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Nasya (Nasal drops) of 2 – 4 drops of Ghee once daily.
    2. Nasya (Snuff) of fine powder of Kataphala (Myrica nagi).
    3. *Tribhuvankirti Rasa- 1 – 2 vati to be taken with milk twice daily.
    4. *Godanti bhasma (Gypsum) – 1 Gm., to be taken with 8 10 Gm., Honey twice daily.
    Pathya

  • Suryavarta (Chronic Sinusitis)

    Signs and Symptoms

      The headache which starts with sunrise, increases till mid day and starts descending with as sun starts setting and vanishes by sun set is called Suryavarta. It happens always in and around eyes.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Ghrita (Ghee) - 20 Ml. should be dissolved in hot milk and consumed twice daily.
    2. Nasya (Nasal drops) made of Ghrita (Ghee) - 1 Gm., Saindhava (Rock salt) - 0.5 Gm. And Dashamula kwath - 30 Ml. Pour 2 - 4 Drops in each nostril.
    3. . Nasya (Nasal drops) made of Kesar (Saffron) - 1 or 2 fibers warmed and dissolved in Ghrita (Ghee) - 30 Ml., and instill 2 - 4 drops in each nostril.
    Pathya

    Drinking of hot water after meals, Draksha (Risin), Amra (Mango), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Dadima (Pomegranate), Narikela (Coconut), Bhringaraja (Eclipta alba) and Walking in moon light are useful for the persons suffering from Suryavarta.

    Apathya

    Chilled water, cold drinks, daytime sleeping and suppression of natural urges are harmful for those suffering from Suryavarta.

  • Palitya (Grey hair)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Premature graying of hair is called Palitya in Ayurveda.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Lepa (Plaster or Paste) made powders of Lauha churan (Powdered iron ore) - 12 Gms., powder of Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) - 50 Gms., seed of Amra (Mango) – 60 Gms., Madayantika (Heena- Lawsonia inermis)- 50 Gms., Vibhitaka (Terminalia belerica) – 50 Gms., Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) – 50 Gms., and Jala (Water) to make workable, keep it and apply everyday. This paste should be applied daily for some days and once or twice every week throughout life helps to keep hair of natural dark colour life-long.

    2. *Bhringraja Tail or *Mahaneel Tail or *Neelibhringadi Tail – Daily application helps to keep hair long, Lustrous, dark and dense throughout life.
    Pathya

    None very specific but Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Milk, Dadhi, Beans and nutritious food is good to have.

    Apathya

    Frequent shampooing, swimming in sea or in pool with chlorinated water, bathing with hard water, crash Dieting and frequent change of place due to excessive traveling should be avoided.

  • Khalitya (Alopecia)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Partial or total loss of hair due to excessive hair fall for a long time, leading to baldness is called Khalitya in Ayurveda.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Til Taila (oil of Sesamum indicum) should be applied everyday.
    2. Taila prepared with seed of Gunja (Wild liquorice) should be applied everyday.
    3. *Bhringaraja Tail – should be applied everyday.
    Pathya

    None very specific but Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Milk, Dadhi, Beans and nutritious food is good to have.

    Apathya

  • Shitapitta (Urticaria)

    Signs and Symptoms

      Off and on or frequent appearing of embossed or elevated circular patches with intense itching with redness is known as Shitapitta. Patches disappear in a day or two or more but come again with fever, vomiting and intense burning sensation.

    Simple Treatment
    1. Powdered leaf of Nimba (Azadirachta indica) 2 3 Gms., with Honey – 8 10 Gms., twice every day.
    2. Trikatu (Equal quantities of Sunthi- Dried ginger, Maricha-Black pepper and Pippali-Piper longum) churan - 2 Gms., to be taken with Madhu (Honey) - 8 - 10 Gms., twice daily and Sarshapi (Mustard) oil should be applied locally.
    3. Decoction of equal parts of Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Haridra (Turmeric) and bark of Nimba (Azadirachta indica) - 20 - 30 Ml., to be taken with Honey - 10 Gms., twice daily.
    4. *Guduchyadi Tail - for local application.
    5. *Haridra Khanda - 3 - 6 Gms., with water twice daily.
    Pathya

    Shital (Cold) ahara, Karela (Bitter gourd), Dadhi (Curd) and Honey are good food articles for those suffering from Shitapitta.

    Apathya

    Amla (Sour), Guru (Difficult to digest) ahara, Madya (Wine), Matsya (Fish) and Viruddha ahara (Incompatible food items) and sleeping during day time are harmful.

  • Svasa Roga (Dyspnoea, Bronchial asthma)

    Difficulty in breathing is called Svasa Roga in Ayurveda.
    Signs and Symptoms   

    Ayurvedic literatures classified two types of Svasa Roga:

    1. Kshudra Svasa (Chronic Bronchitis) – It comes as mild type of Svasa Roga and main symptom is dyspnoea due to exertion.
    2. Tamak Svasa (Bronchial Asthma) – This is very agonizing condition in which the person is extremely restless and faints off and on during the attack of dyspnoea and feels relieved when breathing passage is cleared after thorough expectoration of phlegm. The person can’t sleep or lie on bed and gets some relief only in sitting posture. The attack of dyspnoea appears normally after midnight or early morning and is flared up by cold water, cold weather, cloudy atmosphere, cold winds, chilled food or drinks as all of these factors aggravate Kapha Dosha.
    Simple Treatment
    1. Yoga practices like Pranayama is found to be very effective, so it is always advisable to practice Pranayama regularly and throughout the year.
    2. Some very simple habits should be improvised as taking warm water for drinking, take soft laxatives for bowl clearance, Take light and soft diet at night.
    3. Lepa (Plaster) of Saindhava (Rock salt) made in Ghrita (Ghee) or Sarshapa (Mustard) oil to be applied on chest.
    4. Sarshapa tail (Mustard oil) - 12 Gms., and Guda (Jaggery) - 12 Gms., twice daily.
    5. Powdered Sunthi (Dried ginger) - 4 - 6 Gms., to be taken thrice daily.
    6. Svaras (Juice) of whole plant of Kantakari (Yellow berried night shade - Solanum xanthocarpum) - 15 - 20 Ml., With Trikatu (Equal quantities of Sunthi- Dried ginger, Maricha-Black pepper and Pippali-Piper longum) churan - 1 Gm., twice daily.
    7. Decoction of equal parts of Vasa (Adhatoda vasica), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Kantakari (Yellow berried night shade - Solanum xanthocarpum) - 20 30 Ml., with powder of Maricha (Black pepper) - 1 Gm., twice daily.
    8. *Chyavanprasha – 12 – 24 Gms., to be taken twice daily with warmed milk always.
    9. Any one out of *Eladi churan, *Sitopaladi churan, *Talisadi churan, Shrangyadi churan - 2- 3 Gms., with Madhu (Honey) – 6 – 8 Gms., twicedaily.
    10. *Khadiradi vati or Lavangadi vati – 2 – 4 vati (tablets) to be chewed thrice daily.
    11. *Vasavleha, *Vyaghriharitaki Avleha, *Chitrakaharitaki Avleha – 12 – 24 Gms., to be taken twice daily.
    Pathya

    Drakha (Raisin or Grape fruit), Ghee, Goats milk, wheat and Patola (fruit of Tricosanthes dioica) are good to have for person suffering from Svasa Roga.

    Apathya

    Guru (Heavy or difficult to digest) Dravyas, Shita (Cold) Dravyas, Ruksha (Dry and rough) Dravyas, Masa (Black beans), Sarshapa shaak (Mustard leaf), foods prepared or fried in vegetable oils, Suppression of natural urges like urination, thirst, eructation, cough, smoking and moving in sun and drinking of chilled water immediately afterwards are harmful for persons suffering from Svasa roga.
