Sanskrit Name:Twak, Utkat
Common Name:Cinnamon
Latin Name:Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Breyn

Medicinal Properties:The bark is used as culinary spice and used in various Ayurvedic preparations. Cinnamon bark is one of the common ingredients in spice mixtures used all over India. Dalchini increases salivation and improves digestion. It also acts as a local antiseptic by virtue of its antibacterial action. It has anti-tubercular properties also. Dalchini if chewed helps to control bad breath, dental caries, toothache and nausea. Local application of powder of Dalchini helps in blemishes, acne minor skin conditions. An Ayurvedic formulation for couch, cold, anorexia and indigestion has Dalchini as one of the ingredient
