Sanskrit Name:Bilva
Common Name:Bengal Quince
Latin Name:Aegle Marmelos Corr.

Medicinal Properties:The plant of Bael is known as a sacred plant in Indian culture. Fruit, bark, fruit, leaves and flowers of the tree are used in Ayurveda. Bilva has been used extensively in the treatment of jaundice, anemia, vomiting, piles, fevers, dysentery and diabetes. Syrup made up of fruit pulp is used conventionally in many parts of India as summer drink, which helps to overcome sunstroke effectively. Recent researches have observed that fruit pulp adsorbs the toxins produced by bacteria and other pathogens in the intestine and thus helps to control dysentery. Decoction of Bark helps in diabetes
